Daily Challenge
One puzzle a day, the same for everyone on your word list: the same board, the same tiles, the same coins. You get three turns to score your way to Bronze, Silver or Gold.
How it works
- Pick a word list. Everyone on the same list gets the same puzzle. Before you start, you see its Dice roll, your starting coins and the three medal targets.
- Play three turns. Build on the words already on the board with your seven tiles. The full shop is open, and big plays earn placement and combo bonuses, Alfa Power Tiles and Golden Tiles, as in a match. Words are checked against the same word list as your matches.
- Score, medal, leaderboard. Your third turn ends the attempt. Your score earns Bronze, Silver or Gold when it reaches that target, and your best score goes on the leaderboard.
Medal targets differ from puzzle to puzzle. Every Gold target comes from a solution that uses familiar words.
What is different from a match
Placement, scoring, powers and prices follow the match rules. This is what changes.
| Daily Challenge | Match | |
|---|---|---|
| Board | 11×11, with words already in place | 15×15, empty |
| Bonus squares | Vary by puzzle; some boards have none | The same layout every match |
| Turns | 3 | Until the reserve is empty and a hand runs out |
| Reserve | 12 tiles in a fixed order | The rest of a 100-tile set, in random order |
| Starting coins | 6 to 12, set by the puzzle | 3 |
| Dice | Rolls the puzzle’s fixed value, shown before you start | A random roll from 1 to 6 |
| Uses a turn | A word, or powers played alone. Swap and shopping never do, and there is no pass | A word, powers played alone, or a pass |
| Final score | Word points plus placement and combo bonuses. Coins give no points, and tiles left in your hand cost nothing | Adds 1 point per coin and subtracts the tiles left in your hand |
| Rating | Unaffected | Changes after each multiplayer match |
Retries, leaderboards and the archive
Retries
Play a puzzle as often as you like. Restart during an attempt, or play again from the result screen. Your best completed score is the one that counts.
Leaderboards
Your best score is your leaderboard entry. Switch between Global and Friends. Leaderboards never close: every completed attempt counts, older puzzles included, so you can always go back and beat a score.
Today and the archive
A new puzzle opens at midnight Stockholm time. The calendar holds every earlier puzzle for your word list, with the medal you won, and you can play any of them. Older puzzles keep the rules they were published with.
Your boards
Open your last attempt or personal best from the puzzle’s page or the result screen to see the finished board and browse its turn history.
